First off, welcome to Naruto Journal. The people behind this website have lived in Japan for decades, but only recently moved to a “remote” area–Naruto, Tokushima, on Shikoku Island. Just being off of Honshu, with no Shinkansen bullet train service, makes us feel “remote.” It is not that rural, and Kobe and the rest of Kansai are not far off, but even many Japanese people pause for a moment to recall where in the country Tokushima is, or even vaguely guess where our city is.
The food is fresh and local. The mountains and hills, the rivers and inlets, fields and forests relax us and make us wish more (though not too many!) others could appreciate the parts of Japan away from the paved, electified, 5G-networked more . . . even come to love and live in one of these communities.
Yokoso (welcome)!
